Escape The Fate is touring behind the 10th Anniversary of their album This War Is Ours and the band stopped by El Club in Detroit, MI this past Sunday. Without hesitation, the band tore into the music from that album and hit the audience hard with set opener “We Won’t Back Down.” With heavy bottom end thanks to drums from lone original member Robert Ortiz and spot on vocals from Craig Mabbitt, the crowd was getting what they came for. After “On To The Next One,” one of my personal favorites from the disc that has pop-punk sensibility woven into it, “Ashley,” cranked the audience up and got things rolling. As this was an anniversary celebration, the band played the disc from top to bottom. Other highlights of the disc that came across well in a live situation were the title track and another personal favorite “10 Miles Wide” that sounded perfect, even without Josh Todd’s vocals. After wrapping up the disc portion of the show with closer “It’s Just Me,” the crowd braced itself for what was yet to come. The encore started off with four songs off the band’s latest disc I Am Human, including “Do You Love Me,” the discs first single “Empire,” and the title track. Closing out the set with a killer one-two punch from older material, the crowd was sent into the night with “Gorgeous Nightmare” and “One for the Money” running through their minds and across their lips. Be sure to check out the anniversary tour if you get a chance – if you dig Escape The Fate, you will not be disappointed.
