According to a recent press release: “A Killer’s Confession, the band led by vocalist Waylon Reavis has released its brand new single “Numb” today via Wake Up! Music Group. The single is from the band’s upcoming sophomore album The Indifference Of Good Men out October 18th. The Indifference Of Good Men is the follow up to the band’s critically acclaimed debut album Unbroken. The album was produced by Sahaj Ticotin (Starset, Sevendust) in Los Angeles, CA. Formed in 2016 in Cleveland, OH, A Killer’s Confession (AKC) is led by vocalist Waylon Reavis and consists of Morgan Bauer (drums), JP Cross (bass), Mark Alexander (guitar) and Brock Star (lead guitar).” We get Waylon to discuss new music, influences, and much more…

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

“Numb” is a very very special song to me. It was the first song that I co-wrote with Tommy Church since I had left a former group we both were a part of. It all started in his apartment just him and myself and the want to write something outside the comfort zone that we were both accustomed to. It was a rough demo but it was special… so special in fact that we made it a  bonus track on the CD The Indifference Of Good Men then we took this song to Sahaj Ticotin and it became what you hear today. I cannot give Sahaj enough credit for taking this song that Tommy and I had wrote and turned it into a such a beautiful masterpiece. There are no hidden tidbits in this song. The song is straightforward to its point.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

I always love music even as a small child. I played in the school band in middle school and then my buddies started jamming in the garage is at your parents house and it was just so much fun I never wanted to do anything else.

3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?

I would have to say Korn will be on the top of that list. They were the first national act I saw perform and they left a lifelong impression on me.

4. Who would be your main five musical influences?

Korn, Tool, Rammstein, Phil Collins, Men at work, Depeche Mode, Johnny Cash, and Static-X. I could keep going…

5. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?

Maynard James Keenan. I don’t think I really have to go into why. It’s Maynard!!

6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?

That is a difficult question. I cannot describe AKC’s sound because everybody seems to get something different out of it and every song is different. You cannot describe something that is like putty and is always changing. I can’t disagree with anyone because everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Music is free for interpretation.

7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

Well when we all get together my wife Julie is the one who cooks. I would say Morgan would be the one to grab the acoustic and he’s the drummer. Lol. Mark will be the one to grab the drinks. And JP sits there quietly smoking cigarettes.

8. When was the last time you were star struck and who was it?

I never really get star struck we are all the same and I treat you just like I would a stranger on the street.

9. What is the best part of being a musician? If you could no longer be a musician for whatever reason, what would be your dream job?

The single greatest thing about being a musician is when you walk on that stage and you see the smiles on the fans faces and when they sing the songs back to you. If I was to be done with music I would love to go back to school and become an archaeologist. I absolutely love history and would love the opportunity to study the history of the human race.

10. What is one question you have always wanted an interviewer to ask – and what is the answer? Conversely, what question are you tired of answering?

I honestly think I have been asked every question on the planet all the way down to when do I go to the bathroom. So I can’t really think of any question I would loved to be asked. But one thing that I wish everybody would stop asking me is anything about my former group.

11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”, even if it didn’t change your current situation?

I wouldn’t change a thing. And the reason I say that is because I would not be here today the way it is today if I had not made the mistakes I have in the past life is all about learning from your mistakes. A lesson I learned a long time ago you’ll never understand winning until you have learned how to lose.

12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

The very first Korn album! That band that album are the reason I am here today doing what I do. I would have just loved to of been there to experience it as it was being put together.
