Otherwise made a stop at the Open Chord in Knoxville to deliver an intimate rock show to some of their biggest fans. The night kicked off with Hunter’s Creature, a Knoxville band that features Evan Stone on vocals and piano, who also happens to be working with Otherwise on the road. Chad Grennor from 10 Years and Brave The Royals is also in Hunter’s Creature on guitar, giving the band a huge dose of talent and experience. Even though the band hasn’t had a chance to practice much since some of their members are usually on the road, they gave fans a great piano rock performance. Talia took over the stage next, bringing some pure rock n’ roll from France. This was the three piece band’s first time ever playing in Tennessee, and they definitely left an impact with their catchy songs. Killakoi also impressed me. I saw one of their first shows last year and their set with Otherwise showed a lot of growth. I feel like it’s only a matter of time before they make it onto the mainstream hard rock stations.
Otherwise hasn’t had a chance to play in Knoxville in a while, so fans were treated to an intimate experience on the Open Chord’s small stage. The band was recording footage at this show for their upcoming music video for “Don’t Even” – and I’m sure they got plenty of great shots of their fans singing along and dancing. This band is great with crowd interaction and staying lighthearted during their performance – Frontman Adrian Patrick’s mic stand is even covered with bras and other momentos collected during their shows. Their setlist was long, and included a lot of fan favorites and all of their hits so far, along with a few new songs from their upcoming album. They did songs like “Die For You,” “Weapons,” a cover of Foo Fighters’ “Hero,” “Sleeping Lions,” and “Crimson.” The best part was at the end of their set with most popular song “Soldiers,” featuring Evan Stone on piano and a room full of singing fans. Otherwise has been becoming more popular over the past few years and it was nice to see them really appreciating their fan base at such a unique, intimate venue. As Adrian said at one point during the show, they turned “Knoxville into Rocksville.”
Setlist: Die For You – Weapons – Meet Me In The Dark – Goliath – Darker Side of the Moon – Ain’t Done Yet – Hero – Pickin At Bones – Don’t Even – Sleeping Lions – Halo – Coming For The Throne – Crimson – I Don’t Apologize – Won’t Stop – Soldiers
