10 Quick Ones with INFINITE EVE – November 2018

| 29 November 2018 | Reply

According to a recent press release: “Introducing Raleigh, NC band Infinite Eve that features the soaring vocals of Eve Naylor and the crushing guitar work of Paul Warren. Infinite Eve’s new single and video, “Beautiful Weapon”, is being released November 27th, 2018. The band will be playing their next show on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 with Obsidian Darling at The Pour House in Raleigh, North Carolina.” We get the duo to discuss new music, influences, and much more…

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

At first listen, the song might sound controversial.  But the lyrics are actually metaphorical and reference a person rather than an actual weapon.  Instrumentally, after a couple of listens one might really start to notice the amazing drumming for this tune.  Lots of subtleties in there that really make it dynamic!

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

Eve:  I knew I was going to be a singer from a very young age.  I started realizing that I could hit the notes that my favorite artists were hitting and I knew it was something I was meant to do.

Paul:  I formed my first band before getting my first guitar at age 13!  I was excited to get started and sort of put the cart in front of the horse.

3. Who would be your main five musical influences?

We draw a lot of inspiration from Paramore, Evanescence and other female fronted bands.  We have a unique twist on modern rock given that Eve listens to a lot of Lights and Arizona and Paul listens to Dream Theater and Meshuggah.

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?

Bumblefoot is someone we admire for his insane abilities as a guitarist, producer and songwriter.  Paul has worked with him before, so it would be cool to collaborate musically!

5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?

If you enjoy powerful female rock vocals coupled with progressive sounding rock riffs, you’re probably an Infinite Eve fan.

6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

There is something about playing your heart out to a crowd of excited fans that drives us to keep turning out new music to play.

7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

Chik-Fil-A is basically a member of Infinite Eve!

8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

Paul would be an NBA player and Eve would be a food critic.

9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?

Actually everything has been going very well and the momentum has been great!

10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

“Bohemian Rhapsody!”  To witness that creative process would be amazing!!
