Performing for a full house this Valentine’s day, Switchfoot and Relient K put on a life-changing show—literally. The “Looking For America” tour features a partnership with CURE International, an organization that funds surgeries for children across the world suffering from curable conditions. A percentage of ticket sales are donated to the cause and have allowed for many children to have surgeries, completely free of charge.
The Ohio based rock band, Relient K, kicked off the night with songs from their recent album, Air For Free, and included a special Valentine’s Day melody not featured during the rest of the tour. They even slipped in a rendition of the song “Sadie Hawkins Dance”, a hit from 2001, for longtime fans. Later in the performance, the band helped to celebrate guitarist Matt Hoope’s birthday with the hitting of a candy filled piñata.
For the second half of the night, Switchfoot, an alt rock band hailing from California, put on an energetic and interactive show filled with lights, video clips, smoke, and even bubbles. Their first song featured a video clip with silhouette of lead singer Jon Foreman playing the guitar, and as he jumped on stage it gave the illusion that he was jumping directly from the screen. The band performed songs from their 2016 album Where the Light Shines Through, including an encore with the popular song “Float”. The crowd was enthralled throughout the entire performance, singing along to every song. The highlight of the night came at the very end of the encore, when Switchfoot played their hit song from 2000, “Dare You To Move”. The crowd went wild and held up lighters and cell phone lights as they swayed to the music. The show came to end all too quickly and left everyone in the audience wanting more. Overall a great show for a great cause.
