10 Quick Ones with NICK PALMA of ANOTHER DAY’s ARMOR Armor – August 2018
According to a recent press release: “Another Day’s Armor is a Rock / Alternative Metal band from New York. Combining the huge, mainstream sound of arena rock with borderline metal instrumental work, the band started to create a buzz for themselves with debut singles “Reflections” and “Simple As Sin.” Coming off the momentum of the previous two singles, the band has been working on their debut EP which is set to release mid-summer 2018.” We get guitarist Nick to discuss new music, influences, and much more in our 10 QuickOnes…
1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?
It’s pretty straightforward honestly. “Death Investing” was really just about people who think they can get away with whatever they want but eventually karma comes around and bites them in the ass.
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?
I was about 11 or 12 and I remember watching MTV and seeing Avenged Sevenfold’s “Bat Country” music video and I was just blown away and said wow I want to do that for the rest of my life.
3. Who would be your main five musical influences?
Avenged Sevenfold, Black Veil Brides, Linkin Park, Motionless in White, and Slipknot.
4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?
Corey Taylor
5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?
You should go listen for yourselves and buy it on iTunes.
6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?
When people tell you that you’re their favorite band… and free booze I guess.
7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
Ryan is definitely the cook and always down to BBQ. Alec is definitely the one willing to go get the beer but then Joe is going to drink it faster than anyone. And Joe is going to be the first to break out the guitar and sing drunken country jams with Ryan.
8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?
Ryan wants his own wildlife TV show like Steve Irwin and I would be a writer.
9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?
Working with certain individuals that won’t be named because I’m a bigger person than that.
10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?
Appetite for the Destruction by Guns N Roses. Such an awesome record and it would be really cool to see how live recording went down and sounded.
