Detroit’s Sponge has been rocking since 1991.  They exploded onto the scene with their debut album Rotting Piñata that included both “Plowed” and “Molly.”  They now have 8 studio albums to their credit, the most recent 2016’s The Beer Sesssions.  The Vogue theatre provided a great backdrop to see them, with the fans able to get right up next to the stage.  The night got started with local rockers Hero Jr. Following the stage setup, Sponge opened with “Wax Ecstatic.” The crowd was small for a Friday night, but very interactive. Between songs, fans screamed requests and frontman Vinnie Dombroski complied. They played songs from each of their albums and even added a cover of the theme song “Speed Racer.” They ended with an extended version of “Plowed” which everyone sang along.  After the set they joined fans at the bar. A super fun night for those who attended!
