With music becoming more consumable in bite size pieces, it makes sense for up-n-coming bands to release singles and EP’s, which is exactly what unsigned artists Lane Change have done with their 4-track disc.  Opening track “The Rich Get Richer” comes at you with guitar riffs that stand out in the mix while the melodic vocals and harmonies take the lead, especially the contrast of male and female vocals.  The bluesy vibe woven into the track help drive the song.  “Club 27” comes along and delivers a solid contribution from the rhythm section that keeps the tempo of the track moving, even during some time changes.  The vocals are not quite as prominent as on the opener and the guitars seem a bit subdued on this song.  “Floodwater” opens with an a Capella piece that is soon swirled with a cool set of riffs, some fun bottom end from the bass and drums, and tight vocals at the chorus.  The different sounds mashed together takes on a sound that reminds me of something that may have come from the late 60’s.  Closer “We Won’t Back Down” has a different sound that blends together the various tracks on the disc.  The heavy handed bass line that weaves its way in and out of the mix through the verse gives the song its own pulse, while the guitars bring a playful funk meets ska and reggae groove to the song.  Be sure to check out the solo at the bridge.
