Hitch your caboose up to the soul train, mama’s and papa’s – Edmonton, Canada’s Boogie Patrol are here with a horn-drenched sound that will drag you willingly through soul boogie, R&B (the old styled pre-diva, auto-tune and twelve producer bullshit), and feverish disco funk with a determined blues edge.

If all that sounds a heady mix to get your head around – it shouldn’t. Back in the cobwebby darkness of the ‘70s, this is what music sounded like: genres were less heavily policed, boogie jiggled and shook, and music sounded real, man.

One spin of Man On Fire is enough to hook the most cynical listener: there’s an infectious, fun groove to the album. These five cats can play, and have a sound born of many late nights jamming on stage to anyone who’ll listen.

Players Blues, Whole Lotta Gravy, Shaker Down Below all carry the sentiment of not only ‘70s boogie woogie and risqué soul, but also authentic old blues and soul from decades before, all neatly wrapped up as tight as you like and ready to unwrap whenever you’re ready to don some party trousers and high healed sneakers. Get it on.
