The trick nowadays is not to distill a brand new, individual sound – almost everyone sounds like someone else – it’s to play the music in your heart and soul with passion, skill and put your own stamp on it.
In this, Clone Age have hit the jackpot: Fuse is an album chock-full of great, catchy, heartfelt titanium-plated melodic rock from Čakovec, Croatia that sounds like the product of four decades of rock reduced down to an essence.
Highlights abound here (Give Yourself To Me, We’ll Make It, the big-hit-in-any-other-decade Wake Me Up, the ‘90s-sounding Save Me and closer Alone), but the big standout is My Little Miracle – a new parent near-ballad that’s sure to strike to the heart of everyone who’s ever held their newborn and sworn protection for life.
