Piledriver remind us of a whole raft of early ‘80s European bands who were labelled ‘metal’ as they played their turbocharged hairy melodic boogie plastered in denim, leather and spandex. Gravedigger, Spider, et al were a bit heavier than Piledriver – hardly surprising when we learn that the German five-some have been a Status Quo tribute band for over twenty years.

Brothers In Boogie is the third mostly original release from the band, and they are unapologetic in the essence of what they’re doing: catchy, revved-up barroom boogie.

Titles like One Way To Rock, Natural Born Rockers, Fat Rat Boogie, Frantic Groove and Rock In A Crossfire Hurricane ensure there is no doubt what Piledriver are doing and doing well, and covers of two Quo numbers – Don’t Think It Matters and Drifting Away – seal the deal.

Brothers In Boogie features sterling production by Accept drummer and U.D.O. guitarist Stefan Kaufmann, and leaves no doubt that Piledriver must go off like a frog in a sock on stage.
