There are good things about this book. There are almost definitely good things about this book…
But it took this reviewer a second read, specifically with an eye towards the positives, to find them.
On the plus side:
- The images are kinda cute
- The story plays on the idea that pigs will eat anything, as much as the reader and the pigs might comment on how the ingredients don’t go together
- It counts to ten, both forwards and backwards
But it also has:
- Americanisms
- Really ugly font
- Nothing particularly endearing
This would be a good one for fans of pigs, specifically the three little pigs (as there’s a wolf bit a little later on), or for families looking for interesting counting books, or for kids who like mixing weird foods together.
At a lower price-point, in paperback rather than hardcover, this would be a more justifiable purchase. In the end, it’s not all BAD, it’s just not particularly great, either.
Some other stuff you might dig
