ROSE CARLEO RELEASES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO FOR ‘TEN YEARS’ FROM HER RECENT ALBUM

The new single from powerhouse songstress Rose Carleo is another rockin’ effort, securely cementing her as one of the country’s most dynamic female vocalists. With gritty guitars and Rose’s smoky vocals, the single – Ten Years – opens with a kick and embraces the rockin’ ethos that this impressive musician is quickly becoming known for. The second single, from her recently released third long-player Time Is Now, Ten Years is another solid representation of the incredible album. Already well reputed within the country industry, Time Is Now is the album where Rose has finally found her feet, sitting swiftly in the middle of country and true blue Aussie rock.

When it came to picking the second single from her album, choosing Ten Years was pretty much a natural progression for the energetic musician. Rose says she wanted to keep the flow of the album going and Ten Years had always been high up on the list of potential singles. “It is a rockin’ album and has songs with substance,” she says. “It’s also one of my favourite tracks and a musical reminder of goals I’ve set and am still working towards.”

The notion behind Ten Years is all about looking towards the future. It explores the old adage of ‘what will you be doing 10 years from now’ and that constant niggling question of whether we have achieved the goals we set out to in our past. With that in mind, Rose says looking back, she feels that she is exactly where she wants to be. “I’m comfortable with the choices I’ve made throughout my life because I believe they were right for me at that time,” she says. “Good and bad, we learn from everything and it shapes who we become by the way we deal with life. I would say to those looking ahead 10 years from now – live each day like it’s your last, live in the moment and chase your dreams, do and plan for all the things you’ve always wanted to do…. Time waits for nobody, so live your life.”

Ten Years was penned with Rose’s long-time songwriting partner Drew McAlister, and her real life partner, Mick Adkins. It was pulled together in one of their songwriting sessions and was a concept that everyone quickly embraced. “I was thinking about the subject and also what I’ve achieved since leaving school,” she says. “I then decided that I never dreamed that I’d have such a wonderful life creating, recording and playing music. I am very blessed indeed. When I put the subject on the table, it was written quite quickly because we could all relate to it. The crossroad reference in the song is not only to do with the decision making process but also a good analogy too – we are literally making decisions that are life changing.”

As the song came together quite quickly in the songwriting stages, it was also a track that felt easy to record. Rose already had a demo of Ten Years that she felt kicked along really well. “With the car references lyrically, it felt like a driving song as such so it rocked naturally,” she says. “The vocals were the original ‘guide track’ vocals, meaning when the band were tracking their parts, I sang along to guide them through. They are not usually the ones you end up with the final take. We all agreed the vibe was great, so we kept them – I love singing this song.”

That lively rockin’ vibe has also been translated over to the video clip, which features Rose’s entire band. The clip really embraces that driving vibe. Filmed just outside of Sydney, the video was exactly what Rose saw in her mind’s eye when penning the track. “I always had the vision of having – and driving – a really cool American muscle car in there too,” she says. “Mick and I really love them, they’re tough, have attitude and are classy. There was so much planning that went into it beforehand. When we finalised the storyboard, that’s when the excitement began for me. The band scenes were great to film, but I think the highlight was driving the Barracuda. I couldn’t stop smiling.”

Looking forward Ten Years, it looks like Rose will be continuing to rock! “It will be about living in the moment,” she says. “My focus will be creating and playing music, spending quality time with my loved ones and being the best person I can be.” It’s pretty clear we haven’t heard the last from this powerhouse songstress – there is plenty more rock to come!
