Venue: Tennessee Theater
City: Knoxville, TN

Corey Smith is out on tour in support of his June 23 release While the Gettin’ is Good. His new effort is the first in which he did not self-produce, turning that over to Keith Stegall on Sugar Hill Records. Able to focus solely on performance, the current product is more polished and mature sounding. Hailing from just outside Athens, GA, Corey has a huge following here in Knoxville. The Tennessee Theater was sold out once again. Nashville progressive country group The Railers got the evening started. After a great set, they stepped aside to welcome Corey. Everyone was on their feet, even those up in the balcony. Known for his party, drinking and anti-establishment songs, the crowd was ready for a wild time. He played several from the new release as well as all his hit singles from his previous 8 albums. In addition, as he introduced each band member they played short covers from the likes of Dave Matthews, The Eagles, and Pearl Jam. The band left the stage while Corey sat and played an acoustic “Fuck the Po-Po.” The band returned and brought out Cassandra from the Railers for back up vocals. They concluded with a finale featuring all members of both groups. Corey Smith lived up to his reputation, creating a party atmosphere while playing great music with heartfelt lyrics.
