The Illusionists 2.0

The Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary defines an illusionist as “a sleight-of-hand performer or magician”, and with each of the seven acts from around the world featured in this second Illusionist line-up boasting titles such as The Deceptionist or The Manipulator, crowds know exactly what they’re in for: smoke and mirrors on a grand scale.

But that’s only half the story: there’s far more than trickery and props in the Illusionists arsenal. More importantly, these guys have flashy stage presence, charisma and razzamataz, lightning fast hands (and mouths) and with a spectacle-sized show full of video screens, laser lights and a pounding electro-classical soundtrack, the show does what every kid with a magic kit aspires to: they present a meticulously choreographed and seamlessly practiced and ordered show that is perfectly designed to appear chaotic.

Part of the fun in any such show is trying to work out HOW the cast perform their acts of clairvoyance, feats of daring and nimble-fingered card tricks, but even the most hardened cynic would struggle to find the show anything less than supremely entertaining and often impossible to rumble.

The Illusionists 2.0 may be a slight shade less edgy than the original show, but it still adds up to a fun night out for pretty much all ages, with kids of 7 and 13 having the time of their lives alongside their parents.
