A few years layoff for Vanishing Point seems to have paid off, with their fifth album – the first since 2007 – a mighty, melodic metal success.
Distant Is The Sun sounds huge – the work of a mighty band that has crafted a collection of 14 tracks that combine the power and musculature of the finest Eurometal, cram packed with melodies and orchestral flourishes left, right & centre.
Silvio Massaro’s vocals are emotional and thoroughly complementing the refined metal music on offer – just check out the heart wrenching Story Of Misery or Let The River Run. Chris Porcianko & James Mailer’s guitar work is excellent throughout, and you’d be hard pushed to find a rhythm section as disciplined as Simon Best and Christian Nativo.
And don’t let the European names fool you – Vanishing Point are Aussie metal at it’s finest, hailing from Melbourne.
