Semi legends The Fuzztones compile all sorts of demos, live performances, radio spots, adverts, foreign language tracks, and rarities into this double CD which is a sure to be an absolute treasure trove for fans of the garage pop freaks, and confusingly bizarre for everyone else.
With a career spanning four decades and many band members, Snake Oil’s real joy is in showing no prejudice towards any era of the band’s existence, with tracks sprawling from the original line-up live at CBGB’s in 1981 (Pipe Dream and Talk Talk) through to 2011 (Bad Part Of Town from a Sky Saxon tribute album and bonus track Leave Your Mind Behind).
In between there are gems a-plenty: The Ramones’ 53rd & 3rd from a 2004 tribute record; the 1989 demo of You Must Be A Witch; Kick Out The Jams live with Ian Astbury from 1989; a 2004 alternate version of Hallucination Generation featuring Electric Prune James Lowe; and a bunch of unreleased live stuff.
Getcha fuzz on.
