On the face of it, there is much to dig about Diva Demolition – two rock chicks who have taken their punk pedigrees and turned towards Aussie rock n’ roll with equal nods to the pub scene and the arenas.
They have a ready-made image second to none with animated personas and a regular cartoon strip appearing on their website and CD covers.
They’ve got the sass and rock ‘tood, and they’ve magically scored all sorts of high profile support slots from the KISS/Motley Crue/Thin Lizzy Monster tour to Aerosmith and a bunch of others…
What they lack, though, is not just great, but even good songs. There’s nothing that stands out about I Like It Too Much, Diva Disease, It’s A Bit Strange or Blow Your Hair Back. Energy lacks just that. Screw Loose and Bitch are just the epitomy of ‘meh’. Rock n’ Roll Dream is too clichéd by half.
With some decent songs Diva Demolition could become contenders, but for now, they’re consigned to the ‘must try harder’ bin.
