Nashville, Tenn. (Tuesday, March 26, 2013) – Award-winning, multi-platinum group Sister Hazel has teamed with nonprofit relief organization Feed The Children to promote child sponsorship around the world. The band recently kicked off the partnership on their 13th annual Rock Boat cruise, February 24-March 1, as the first of several events to encourage their fans to become sponsors of children in need.

Band members Jett Beres, Ken Block, Andrew Copeland, Ryan Newell, and Mark Trojanowski recently traveled to Honduras to witness first-hand the impact of Feed The Children’s efforts. During their trip, the band members felt personally compelled to adopt the community of Los Laureles in the La Ceiba area of Honduras as their own. To extend their outreach, they are asking fans to support them by also sponsoring a child through Feed The Children. They also plan to fund special projects such as their recent fundraising efforts to provide Los Laureles clean drinking water, a new feeding center and other needed improvements that were identified during their recent visit.  The group is looking to expand their sponsorship efforts to the surrounding areas of La Ceiba, and is encouraging fans to join them by visiting http://www.teamsoundwave.com/sisterhazel/.

“When you get a chance to do something that you love for a living like we’ve had the chance to do for 20 years, we think it’s ridiculous not to reach out and touch lives,” shares Jett Beres. “We’re really excited about being able to actually make a difference,” the band further echoed.

The band is helping to inaugurate Feed The Children’s Artist Program, which links musicians and their fans with children in need of help, both in the U.S. and around the world.  Feed The Children is active in communities throughout Central America, Africa, Haiti and the Philippines, as well as the U.S., providing food and nutrition, water and sanitation, health and education, and livelihood development.
