I am not normally one to review or even listen to live discs. If I want to hear the live version of tracks, I go to the show. When pumping songs through the stereo at home, I want the song the way I remember and know it. That being said, I decided to take this for a spin. So glad I did. I love what the band did on Elation, and I love the addition of Terry Illous. Sometimes a band just needs to move on and add or delete members. Listening to all of these Grat White classics with Terry’s vocals on top didn’t make me long for the previous singers voice on these tracks. The band is a s strong as ever. Guitarist Mark Kendall and keyboardist Michael Lardie (who also plays guitar) are spot on. The solos and fills are exactly as I remember them. The bass and drums, handled by Scott Snyder and Audie Desbrow respectively, are also on top of their game. The blues is still the anchor that holds this ship upright and that anchor is as solid as it has ever been. The songs are arguably the biggest hits of the bands career, but I would have loved to hear a track or two from the latest release. Better yet, maybe next time they will re-record all of these tracks in teh studio and release that. I would love to hear what time has done to the arrangements if recorded in a studio situation, especially after hearing what they have done with these tracks live.
