SHOCK RECORDS TO RELEASE SPECIAL EPS from ALEXISONFIRE and CITY AND COLOUR

NEW **UNRELEASED** MATERIAL AVAILABLE DIGITALLY IN AUSTRALIA DECEMBER 5

 

Shock Records, together with Dine Alone, have announced a very special treat for Alexisonfire and City and Colour fans, just in time for the holidays.  Alexisonfire’s Death Letter EP and City and Colour’s Covers Pt. 2 EP will be released on iTunes Australia this Wednesday December 5.

The new 6 song EP from Alexisonfire titled Death Letter features material from previous AOF releases reworked by Dallas Green and Wade MacNeil at Jukasa studio in Hamilton.  Green and MacNeil hit the studio together this Fall to record acoustic and noise-rock interpretations of classic Alexisonfire songs (track listing below).  Alexisonfire and Dine Alone Records, distributed in Australia by yours truly, recently acquired ownership of AOF’s entire back catalogue, and plan to issue more fun and creative releases in the coming months.

After selling out the majority of their tour dates within minutes of on-sale, Alexisonfire kicked off their 10th anniversary Farewell tour last night in London, UK. Ending in Ontario, Canada on December 30, the tour touches down on four continents in 24 days, including their first and only performance in South America and 2 very special shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

City and Colour’s Covers Pt 2 is the latest release from the Covers EP series which features Dallas Green’s take on some of his favourite songs covered throughout his career.  (The first of the Covers series came in the form of a limited-edition 10” vinyl only made available as part of special pre-sale ticket package in Canada, the US, and the UK.)   Track 1, originally by Swedish singer-songwriter Kristofer Åström from the band Fireside, is a song Green has been covering since before the first City and Colour album was ever released.  The second track is one of Green’s favourite songs from one of his favourite Canadian bands, The Constantines, which Green has often performed live as well.

It has been an incredible year since the release of Little Hell which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Chart, reaching Gold sales in Australia mere months ago – City and Colour’s first international Gold certification. The album also debuted at #1 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart in Canada, #28 in the U.S. and hit Top 40 in the UK.  Fresh off the heels of an ambitious tour spanning the Globe, Green has performed over 138 dates since April 2011 including several sold-out shows in the US, UK, Europe and Australia.

Green was recently in the studio recording the follow up to Little Hell due out next year.  As well, City and Colour will be hitting the road for a few dates in March supporting P!nk on her USA tour.
