Melodic rock has always been a favorite of mine. That being said, if you are of similar thought, you just may want to check out the debut self-titled release from A Perfect Day.
The disc kicks off with the fun track, “Another Perfect Day.” The trio plays well together and the vocals are incredible. The groove created here weaves throughout the disc, but really is a great introduction to the band and release. “Now And Forever” slows the tempo a bit, but without sacrificing any of the quality. The guitar work is great on this track, as it is highlighted in the breakdowns. If you like juicy riffs, pay attention though this song. “Long Road To Ruin” slows the pace way down with a beautiful mostly acoustic ballad that shows the diversity of this group of musicians. It also shows the range of lead vocalist Roberto Tiranti. Don’t fret, “Alone And Free” brings the rock back and kicks in with killer drumming and guitar playing. “Silent Cry” is similar to “Long Road To Ruin,” but it has more instrumental bridges and really demonstrates the talent here.
More melodic pieces such as “Under The Same Sun” and “Here We Are Again” pepper the disc with great songs that are constructed for the rocker with melodic tastes. “Waiting On The Edge” is another rocker that really adds an edge to the disc. The guitar work here is woven well through the track. My favorite has to be the closing track. “We Only Say Goodbye” left me wanting 10 more track. This song should have been placed earlier on the disc, as I don’t think it will get the attention it deserves. The tempo changes and fills are handled craftily by drummer Alesandro Bissa and guitar player Andrea Cantarelli really shines here.
I can only hope they have more songs ready to go – I am not sure how long I can wait for more from APD.
