I have really liked the last two Sister Sin albums and could not wait to check the new disc out. Thankfully, I don’t have to wait any longer. As I get the stream queued up and running, the anticipation builds.
From the opening strands of a beautiful instrumental piece, “MMXII,” you just know this is going to be a great disc. Then comes along “End Of The Line” to kick down the doors and pronounce, ‘Sister Sin is here Mother F*ckers.’ This track, with its killer vocals, strong guitar riffs, and monster backbeat, is a great way to kick this disc into gear. The next track, “Fight Song,” really lays down the law and lets you know where the band is coming from when it opens up with a big ‘F*ck you.’ The rest of the disc carries this attitude as a huge badge of honor.
“Hearts Of Cold” is another rocker that comes at you head on and delivers the goods. The tracks here seem a little heavier than the last couple, but more melodic at the same time. This is the kick in the ass that metal needs. Another high energy track that keeps the head banging is “Hang ‘Em High.” The rhythm section is killer here, as the drums pound and the bass keeps perfect time. Not to mention some really cool guitar work. Let’s not forget Liv’s vocals. “Running Low” and “Shades Of Black” have the same cool vibe as most of the disc, but have a different feel in the vocals. Disc closer “Morning After” is totally different, but worth the listen. Let’s just hope Liv and the guys don’t make ballads a career, as I would miss the rock!!
