A lot of bands try to forge a career in 80s style glam rock, but few succeed. Lipstixx ‘N’ Bulletz are one of those bands that give it one hell of an effort and hit the mark. Originally releases in 2009, this disc saw a reissue that will hopefully see it reach its potential among sleaze rock lovers.
The songs all seem to fit the mold of the genre. The tracks, like title song “Bang Your Head” and the eponymous song “Lipstixx ‘N’ Bulletz” are good rocks tracks with big vocals and bigger guitar solos. The flow of the disc is great, in that you have several rock tracks that fit in the 80s and several that fit today’s rock.
There isn’t a single ballad on this disc, so if you are hoping to find that new make-out track, you need to look elsewhere. That isn’t a bad thing though. You get no overproduced keyboards or layered vocals crying out for lost love. All ten tracks are here to rock you. Listen through to the end of the disc though, because “Be Mine Tonight” and disc closer “Love In A Needle” are both solid rockers that hold their own here, and my personal favs on the disc.
The worst part of this disc is that it is most likely the last release from these guys, as Lipstixx ‘N’ Bulletz disbanded in 2012, with Andy Lipstixx and Mickey Sweet going on to form ToxicRose.
