Album makes #1 debut on the U.S Billboard 200 Album Chart

Sony Music Entertainment Australia are proud to announce the Australian
release of Dave Matthews Band’s new studio album Away From The World on
September 28. The album was recorded with Steve Lillywhite, who produced
the band’s first three studio albums – Under The Table And Dreaming,
Crash and Before These Crowded Streets.

The news of the Australian release comes as the album
debuts atop the Billboard 200 Album Chart in the U.S, making Dave
Matthews Band the first group in the history of the chart to debut six
consecutive studio albums at #1.

The release of Away From The World is preceded by its first single
“Mercy”. The band invited fans to take part in the creation of the music
video for “Mercy,” asking for submissions of original photos and videos
to be used in the clip. Those who contributed to the process – echoing
and enhancing the song’s call for unity and action – were rewarded with
an early look at the resulting clip, directed by James Frost (Radiohead,
OK Go). The video can be viewed here:

Away From The World has received unanimous praise from critics with
Rolling Stone hailing it as the band’s “strongest album in years.”
Billboard praised it as “sometimes heart-rending, often seismic, always
ambitious…[Matthews] showcases some of his most stirring, vulnerable
vocals and lyrics to date.” Fans can read an excerpt from the Billboard
cover story at
