A Dirty Dozen with DANI ARCOS and DIVA SATANICA from BLOODHUNTER – March 2026

| 19 March 2026 | Reply

According to a recent press release: “Hot on the heels of “The Devil’s Own,” Spain’s BLOODHUNTER have unveiled the official music video for their new single “The Outspoken.” This track hits hard. Fast-paced drums, razor-sharp melodic leads and crushing riffs collide with Diva Satanica’s commanding vocal delivery. The result is a relentless melodic death metal rager that balances aggression with sharp hooks and tight songwriting. “The Outspoken” doesn’t waste a second. It builds, strikes, and leaves its mark. Lyrically, the song serves as a defining statement for the band. With “The Outspoken,” BLOODHUNTER reaffirm their place in modern melodic death metal: intense, direct, and unapologetically honest – and leave fans hungry for more music that will hopefully follow soon!” We get guitarist Dani and vocalist Diva to discuss new music, influences, and more…

1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets you put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

Dani: Our latest single, “The Outspoken,” is a good snapshot of where BLOODHUNTER is heading right now: fast, aggressive, but still very melodic. On a first listen it hits you as a very direct song, but if you pay attention there are a lot of guitar harmonies and small melodic details interacting beneath the main riffs. The rhythm section is also doing more than just keeping the pace, so with repeated listens you start noticing little layers and nuances that might go unnoticed the first time around.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

Diva: No one in my family is really into rock or metal, but my dad used to work as a manager on weekends for small bands that played open-air shows, performing some of the biggest hits in Spain across many different genres. He used to take my mum and me with him, so I had the chance to experience life on the road and see how challenging it must have been for those bands to learn such a varied repertoire. A few years later, in my early teens, I was watching a talent show on TV and saw a girl singing “Livin’ On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi. I was really impressed because I had never heard anything like that before. After that, I started going to the music store every week to pick up an album without even knowing what kind of music it was. If there were long-haired people on the cover, it was a good sign. That’s how I started connecting with rock music.

3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?

Diva: In my case, I started with some hard rock albums such as Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi and Appetite for Destruction by Guns N’ Roses, which are very far from what we do in BLOODHUNTER. From there, I started to feel the urge to explore faster and more aggressive music, so I moved from hard rock to grunge, then to power metal. Later, in my twenties, I discovered the extreme metal scene through a live YouTube video of Holy Moses. That was the first time I saw a woman growling, and it made me start fantasizing about doing the same.

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?

Diva: There are many amazing artists we would love to collaborate with, and we’ve already had the chance to work with some of them, such as Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens from KK’s Priest and Marios Iliopoulos from Nightrage. We’ve been releasing new music over the last few months, and we can say there will be more outstanding collaborations in the near future. So stay tuned to our socials, because it’s going to be sick!

5. What is your favorite activity when out of the studio and/or not on tour? What do you like to do to unwind?

Diva: Enjoying nature with my dog Breo and his friends is the perfect plan for a day off, but I also love reading, going to the cinema, and doing sports. I recently discovered this discipline called barre, which mixes ballet and fitness, and it has helped me a lot to build more stamina for the stage, which is amazing.

6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?

Dani: I’d describe BLOODHUNTER as melodic death metal with a strong emphasis on melody and intensity. The music is aggressive and fast, but we always try to keep strong guitar harmonies and memorable structures at the center of it. If you like bands in the melodic death metal tradition, you’ll probably find something familiar in our sound, but we try to give it our own character. As for comparisons, the classic one is linking us to any band with a female vocalist, which happens quite often. It’s a bit ironic because those comparisons usually disappear the moment you actually listen closely and realize the music has very little in common. Labels like that tend to say more about marketing categories than about the music itself.

7. When your band is hanging out together, who cooks, who gets the drinks in, and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

Dani: Fabián and Diva are definitely the kings of the party, they’re the ones keeping the drinks flowing and the mood high. Guille would be the first to grab an acoustic guitar and start a singalong. I’m probably the one who goes to sleep first… unless someone manages to intoxicate me enough, in which case I might end up getting into trouble. And Adrián usually starts the night quiet, but once the drinks kick in, things tend to get pretty entertaining.

8. When was the last time you were starstruck and who was it?

Diva: I had the privilege of meeting amazing people in the business over the years, but I would say Nergal from Behemoth, who is quite a character and a super interesting person.

9. What is the best part of being a musician? If you could no longer be a musician for whatever reason, what would be your dream job?

Diva: The best part is connecting with other people emotionally and being part of the same community. I would say that my daily job as a psychiatric nurse has become my best choice.

10. What is one question you have always wanted an interviewer to ask – and what is the answer? Conversely, what question are you tired of answering?

Diva: I hate being asked why I don’t sing melodically, or having people question whether my growls sound too linear, especially when I don’t see the same questions being asked to my male bandmates. At the same time, I also love getting those kinds of comments, because they give me the opportunity to expand on my answer and share my perspective: as I’m not a melodic singer, there’s no need for me to sing like that.

11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over,” even if it didn’t change your current situation?

Dani: Looking back, there have definitely been moments where we probably didn’t make the best decisions, especially when it comes to timing, opportunities or people we worked with along the way. That’s something most bands go through at some point. The important thing is learning from those situations and adapting. Every step, even the wrong ones, teaches you something that helps you make better decisions later and keep moving forward.

12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

Diva: There’s one Cradle Of Filth album that I love very much which is called Nymphetamine. Dani Filth is probably one of the most amazing vocalists and lyricists of our generation. We even tried recording a cover of one of the songs from that album, called “Gilded Cunt,” and it was quite a challenge.
