The Summer Circus Tour rolled through the House of Blues Orlando on June 8th, 2025, and it was exactly what it promised: a chaotic, colorful, ska-fueled carnival of sound and spectacle. Less Than Jake headlined a stacked bill that also featured Bite Me Bambi, The Suicide Machines, and Fishbone. Kicking off the night was Bite Me Bambi, a SoCal ska-pop band with a retro aesthetic and the infectious energy to match. Their blend of upbeat ska riffs, ’80s new wave influences, and just the right amount of punk edge immediately won over the crowd. Think Madness meets No Doubt with a healthy dose of neon. Bright, bouncy, and utterly danceable. Next up, The Suicide Machines brought Detroit grit and decades of politically-charged punk/ska intensity to the stage. These guys have been doing this since the early ’90s and haven’t lost any edge. Their set hit hard, both musically and emotionally. They weren’t afraid to get loud about things that matter, and the crowd responded with roars of agreement. Their fusion of hardcore punk and ska still hits with force and purpose, sounding just as raw and charged as it did decades ago. Then came Fishbone, and if you’ve never seen Fishbone live, you haven’t truly lived. These guys have been smashing genres together since the late ’70s — ska, punk, funk, soul, metal, and then some — and somehow it all works. It doesn’t just work, it explodes. Angelo Moore (aka Dr. Madd Vibe) is still one of the most magnetic frontmen in music. Fishbone didn’t just warm the crowd up for Less Than Jake; they detonated it.

And then… it was circus time! Less Than Jake took the stage with a wild, immersive set that turned the already electric room into a full-blown ska theme park. The Gainesville legends have always been known for their ridiculous live shows, but this one felt like a celebration of everything they’ve built since forming in 1992. There were beach balls flying, white tissue streamers shot into the crowd, and yes, multiple wacky waving inflatable arm-flailing tube men bobbing in rhythm to the beat. It was chaos in the best way. Costumed characters, including a monkey and a clown, danced across the stage throughout the set. The band brought fans on stage to juggle balls, shouted out audience members by name, and kept the banter flying between songs. Trombone player Buddy Schaub was a human pinball, constantly jumping off the drum riser and dancing alongside the onstage characters. His energy was off the charts all night. Less Than Jake’s sound hasn’t aged, it’s matured like a beer that still punches you in the face. Their ska-punk blend is tight, fast, and melodic, with a lyrical style that swings between tongue-in-cheek sarcasm and sincere reflections on youth, politics, and growing up. They’ve always aimed to bring fun and community to punk rock, and that was absolutely the vibe in the room. This show wasn’t just a concert, it was a full-blown ska explosion. It was chaotic, sweaty, joyful, absurd, and perfect. The Summer Circus Tour lives up to its name and then some. If it’s coming to your city, don’t walk. Skank.
