Attention vinyl lovers and music aficionados. Mark your calendars — Record Store Day 2025 will make its triumphant global return on Saturday 12 April on a day where music enthusiasts, collectors and fans unite to celebrate our extraordinary independent record store space and the passionate people behind the scenes who bring it to life.
Usually held on the third Saturday in April, Record Store Day celebrations have been shifted to an earlier date this year, as the third Saturday is a bank holiday in many countries.
Now celebrating its 18th birthday, Record Store Day 2025 will see more than 200 independent record stores across Australia spin into action with exclusive vinyl releases, special events and unique RSD activations, underscoring Record Store Day’s place in the hearts of music fans and vinyl collectors alike.
Traditionally, Record Store Day has only accepted exclusive vinyl releases from established record labels and artists. Now, for the first time in its history, Record Store Day Australia is opening its registrations to all Australian artists and labels, fostering a deeper connection between all artists, independent record stores, and the fans who sustain the industry.
Previous Record Store Day Australian releases over the years have included something for everyone, from a 7” Peking Duk and Darren Hayes collaboration, releases from Ocean Alley, Underground Lovers, Confidence Man, Forest Claudette, and Montaigne, to popular family favourites, including The Wiggles and Bluey’s ‘Dance Mode’.
