Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu came to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Monday as part of a North American tour with Paramore. In April, he released a remix by of his 2022 hit single “Get Inspired” following the release of his debut LP Smiling With No Teeth. The album was named “Album of the Year” at the ARIA Awards, “Best Record” via Rolling Stone Australia, triple j’s “Album of the Year” and more. As the lights dimmed Genesis made a grand entrance gliding across the stage atop his cloaked support dancers towering over eight feet high. As he started his hit song “Leaving the Light” he was lowered to the stage as the dancers were unveiled. Bound in rope, dressed in red and black they stalked along the stage. Owusu, also in red and black with a fishnet shirt, was flamboyant and charismatic getting the audience engaged from the onset. He put on an energetic and very unique set both visually and musically.
