The Canadian metal band Living Dead Girl made a stop at the Open Chord Stage in Knoxville on their Not That Innocent Tour – and it even became the unintentional last date on this run. The show was set to begin with local rock band Nightfly, who unfortunately had to drop the show. The Almas kicked off the night instead with some incredible powerhouse rock and roll that brought almost as much love from the crowd as the headliner. Living Dead Girl was created by vocalist and Toronto native Molly Rennick, who showed off her incredible range of clean singing and harsh screams while keeping the crowd hyped up. The band is known for their recent EP of pop cover songs, like Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi” and Christina Aguilera’s “Fighter,” but they also performed original songs that prove that Rennick could easily be the next successful frontwoman in metal. Living Dead Girl also debuted a brand new song that has not been released on streaming services yet, called “Dysfunctional.” The band’s stage presence was also worth noting, since their gothic aesthetic, candles, tombstones, and rose-adorned mic stands all painted a spooky scene that complimented their style and sound perfectly. Unfortunately after this show, Living Dead Girl encountered transmission issues with their van on the way to their next date and had to cancel the rest of the tour dates in Glasgow, Huntsville, and Birmingham. According to their Instagram page, the band made it home safe and will be returning to Tennessee to drive the van back to Florida, and they have set up a GoFundMe to help cover the expenses.
Setlist: Alive – Beautiful – Poltergeist – Fighter – Dysfunctional – Sk8er Boi – Give Up – Exorcism – Worship Me
