Umphrey’s McGee made their annual appearance in Indy, once again at the TCU Amphitheater at White River State Park.  Tonight’s performance was their 49th show in Indy. Formed in 1997 in South Bend, Indiana, the band is a local favorite. A nice crowd for a weekday welcomed them back after opening act the Disco Biscuits kicked things off. Their reputation is founded on their live performance and everyone was excited to see what this show had in store. It was a mild Thursday night, a perfect setting for an outdoor concert. They started with “There’s No Crying in Mexico” as the crowd stood and cheered. Bayliss complimented the fans and said just keep that up the whole night. Their multi-colored light show created a psychedelic backdrop as the guys jammed. Jake Cinninger and Brendan Bayliss strobing guitar solos were the highlight of the show. Drummer Kris Myers and percussionist Andy Farag set the groundwork on which the music was built. Ryan Stasik’s rhythmic bass complimented the guitar riffs. Joel Cummins was on keyboards added a diverse array of sounds. Together the band was in perfect harmony, creating a rich mix of blues, jazz and metal.  They played a long set, totaling nearly two hours. Everyone left satisfied after another classic performance by Umphrey’s McGee.
