It’s the last show of Sara Pascoe’s Australian tour and nothing is off limits – not her husband and his canoe-sized shoes, not her parents-in-law with whom she’s been staying in Sydney, not Clive Palmer, and most of all not herself.
In an hour of non-stop belly laughs we’re treated to hilarious diatribes about hubby’s housework phobias; male versus female mid-forties sex drive disparity; hotel buffet toasters never being fit for purpose; Peppa Pig’s relationship secrets and much more.
Her children – especially the one who “looks like Danny DeVito” – and the false joy of motherhood come in for extended skewering in a way so real it’s impossible not to laugh and relate to.
When a punter’s phone rings, throwing Pascoe off-track, another person’s topical cry of “it’s Clive Palmer asking you to vote for him” leads to one of the funniest sections of the show despite the star not knowing who Palmer is.
She caps the show off with talk of a scientific experiment sewing old and younger mice together to reduce aging in the younger one, coupled with an airport check confiscating her sticky tape in Sydney earlier in the day, and how the two tie together is simply too funny to spoil here and now.
Champagne comedy.
