Counting Crows played to a sold-out crowd on the first of two nights shows. Their current tour is in support of the latest EP release Butter Miracle Suite One which is expected to be expanded into their eighth studio album. It was a sweltering summer night, still 90 degrees at showtime. The crowd rose to their feet and sang along as they opened with “Goodnight Elisabeth” one their many smash hits from the 90’s. Being a two-night event, they promised to mix up the setlist to give each show a unique appeal. Mid set had some deep tracks and a Grateful Dead cover. The 18-song performance went until the park’s curfew at 10 p.m. Lead singer Adam Duritz’s vocals sounded every bit as good as he did in their beginning now 31 ago. He was supported by a 6-piece band that played flawlessly all evening. It was great to see the band still going strong and the support the fans showed selling out the event. Hopefully we will continue to see new material and touring for years to come.
Setlist: Goodnight Elisabeth / Pale Blue Eyes – Dislocation – Mr. Jones – Colorblind – Omaha – I Wish I Was a Girl – Butterfly in Reverse – Miami – Washington Square – Friend of the Devil – The Tall Grass – Elevator Boots – Angel of 14th Street – Bobby and the Rat‐Kings – Rain King – A Long December – Hanginaround – Holiday in Spain
