After a three-year hiatus, the Snake Pit at Indianapolis Motor Speedway returned with a killer lineup. The infield of the Indy 500 track opened early and the first show got underway around 7:15 AM. The Dutch duo Yellow Claw got the party started with their mix of rap, R&B and reggae. CO2 canons and flame throwers pulsed as they dropped a thundering bass. Next up was the frenetic Steve Aoki. His set included his own tracks as well as popular remixes. Hard hitting dubsteps got the fans headbanging. And of course, there were cakes, 6 in fact. His signature cake tossing from the stage exploded on willing recipients. He hopped off stage and went out into the crowd stirring them into a frenzy. Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 took the stage with his enormous LED mouse helmet. His techno beats smoothly transitioned as the LED background played choreographed videos. Following his set, the monitors went to the race for driver introductions, the Star-Spangled Banner, and a flyover by the US Air Force Thunderbirds. After the race was underway, it was Martin Garrix turn. The 26-year old from the Netherlands has rapidly ascended the EMD world and is considered one of the best international DJs. He did not disappoint with a fantastic set that had everyone jumping to the beat. Topping off the day was the Swedish duo Galantis. They came out on fire from the onset with mixes of popular tracks as well their own work. A massive drum set was used to add percussion to their tracks. A fitting ending for the day that welcomed back over 300,000 fans to the track and over 20,000 to the Snake Pit.
