Knoxville’s own 10 Years made a stop at The Concourse on their latest tour – and it was a wild homecoming. This is the first time the rock band has been on The Concourse’s stage since the venue moved to a bigger and newer location. The room was packed out with fans of all ages, many of which were 10 Years’ longtime friends and family. The show started off with VRSTY, a metalcore band from New York that kicked off the night with strong energy. They were followed by Black Map, a California post-hardcore band that helped break up the heavier music and got the crowd riled up for 10 Years. Both bands complimented the headliner’s sound and energy perfectly.
The Knoxville natives hit the stage after a brief wait, and they gave the show their full energy. Frontman Jesse Hasek’s iconic voice was strong, and the rest of the band appeared to be having a fantastic time playing and interacting with fans. Hasek spent a majority of the show climbing onto the barricade as fans screamed back lyrics, and a few fans even briefly crowdsurfed (I saw some legs fly into the air a few times). The band played a great blend of old and new hits, delivering an 18 song setlist that set a great pace – it felt like it flew by. The show ended with easily their biggest hit and a Knoxville favorite, “Wasteland.” This show was clearly an important stop on this tour, and 10 Years gave it their all. Easily my favorite show I’ve seen from them as a local.
Setlist: Russian Roulette – Now Is the Time (Ravenous) – Fix Me – Ashes – Dead in the Water – Beautiful – Fade Into (the Ocean) – Planets 1 – The Unknown – So Long, Good-Bye – Half Life – Cut the Cord – The Shift – Say Goodbye – Waking Up – Shoot It Out – Novacaine – Wasteland
