Jinjer brought their energetic metalcore show and Coming To America tour to St. Petersburg, FL’s great open air live venue Jannus Live. With a couple powerhouse openers in tow, the packed venue braced for a powerful night of rock. Openers All Hail The Yeti kicked the evening off with a set packed with volume and attitude and a stage setup that lent a mood to the bands set. The four guys worked through their tracks and kept the crowd jacked up through their time on stage. Next up was Suicide Silence and they picked up where the openers left off. Their dimly lit set and even darker music elevated the energy in the crowd. Not exactly my cup of tea, but the venue seemed to feed off the music and vibe rolling off the stage. After the two bands had their way with the crowd, it was time for the headliners to crank the music up, dial in their focus on the crowd, and deliver a set full of fan favorites, including tracks from their latest release August 2021’s Wallflowers. The set was bookended with new tracks and the rest of the set was shuffled with songs from other releases including 2019’s album and EP Macro and Micro. Frontwoman Tatiana Shmailyuk controlled the flow of the show from the onset and was perfectly supported by the trio of musicians behind her – guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov, bassist Eugene Abdukhanov, and drummer Vladislav Ulasevich. With moments of banter, the band bonded with the capacity audience as the energy in the venue ebbed and flowed from the stage, washing across the venue before returning to the stage. The latest offering from the band provided half of the evenings setlist and demonstrated the bands growth from its 2019 collection of tracks. If the crowd took one thing away from the show, it was that Jinjer is here to stay and cannot wait to unleash more music and return to Jannus Live to deliver their powerful show again at some point in the future.
