A Dirty Dozen with LATE NIGHT TROUBLE – December 2021 (BMA)
According to a recent press release: “After dropping the songs “Sex Drive” & “Scream My Name,” Late Night Trouble follows up with their 3rd single “Diamond In The Rough.” “Diamond In The Rough” is just the right combination of heaviness & boldness. It will make you wanna dance, bang you head and carry away your worries for another day! The band is a finalist for the 5th Annual Banger Music Awards in the following category: Crank It Up Award.” We get the band to discuss new music, influences, and more…
1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets you put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?
Our new song “Diamond In The Rough” is definitely one of our favorites because it got so much attitude in it + it rocks! It has a good move and always put me in a good mood when I listen to it. I think it’s good to listen to the songs as many times as possible if you’re into this kind of rock because it helps understand the vibe of our band and the type of music we make!
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician? Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?
I always loved music and singing since I was a child, especially rock and punk music! A couple of years ago I got the opportunity to start a band for fun and that got me into it. But early 2013 I saw Green Day live and that’s really after this show that I decided that I wanted to make music and started to process of finding musicians to play with!
3. What was your reaction to being included in the Banger Music Awards process? Did you ever think what you were doing would be elevated to “award” status?
We were so happy about it, and still are! It is the first time our band gets into a process like this and it’s been great the whole way through so far! We’re competitive people by nature and those things are always exciting!
4. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?
We make music for rock n’ roll lovers and thrill seekers! Straight rock music with a lot of attitude, groove and banger riffs + our own modern touch. To be honest, we haven’t been compared to any particular band as of now!
5. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?
All members of the band have a wide and difference range a favorite artists what we’d love to work with, but it there is one band that comes to my mind I can say we all love, it is Billy Talent! It would be awesome to have the opportunity to work with any members of the band by any circumstances.
6. How important to you is the local music scene and acceptance by not only the fans but also your peers?
It is extremely important to us, we need to support each other a lot if we want to make it to the next level! We support every local band we like in the best way we can. We buy their t-shirts, stream their music and support them on social media, it is important for us.
7. When your band is hanging out together, who cooks, who gets the drinks in, and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
I’m definitely the best cook in the band and have made meals for the band previously. Haha, but I got to admit to we’re more the kind of people to get some food from restaurants. For the drinks in and acoustic guitar, our guitar player Sebastien is definitely the one! He always has a guitar in hands singing some funny and/or sad songs. XD
8. When was the last time you were starstruck and who was it?
In 2018 I saw Sum 41 for a few shows and every time it got to me. I loved them since I was really young and got the see them from really close. Deryck Whibley is one of my favorite artists out there!
9. What is the best part of being a musician? If you could no longer be a musician for whatever reason, what would be your dream job?
Right now, we’re not full time musicians and we got full time jobs. So I’m only dreaming about making music for a living and can’t think about anything else but to make music in Late Night Trouble as my job!
10. What is one question you would like an interviewer to ask – and what is the answer? Conversely, what question are you tired of answering?
It is a hard one to answer because our band is so new and I haven’t got the chance to be in many interviews. I just love talking about music and our band and I didn’t have to answer any questions that felt uncomfortable yet!
11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over,” even if it didn’t change your current situation?
Definitely not playing covers for so long and start writing songs sooner, I love to make music and writing rock songs!
12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?
American Idiot by Green Day has always been one of my favorite records ever and by knowing now how much hard work it takes to record great music, I would’ve loved to be witness this masterpiece!
