Irish singer songwriter Dermot Kennedy’s international tour included a stop at Indy’s newly renovated TCU Amphitheater at White River State Park. Another beautiful summer night set the backdrop for the evening. Bishop Briggs got things started with her high energy performance. As nightfall approached, the staged dimmed and a fog covered the stage. The lighting created a moody effect as Dermot and his band mates took their place. His songs blended Irish folk with hip hop. He spoke of overcoming adversity, a theme echoed in his lyrics. He was engaging, creating an intimate experience for the fans. Dermot encouraged us to sing along throughout the night. Most were on their feet from the onset. The performance was amazing and its clear to see why he is considered to be the next big artist from Ireland following in the footsteps of the likes of U2 and the Cranberries.
