The Plot In You brought their FEEL NOTHING Tour to The Masquerade in Atlanta, and it was a show full of incredible vocal talent and loud metalcore. The show began with Fault Lines, which was a surprise to me since they’re from Chattanooga, TN and play a lot of local shows in my hometown of Knoxville. This band is probably one of the most unique and professional metalcore bands in East Tennessee, and they got the crowd moving early for a night of great music. LIMBS was next, and they were full of energy, heavy riffs, and headbanging (and some funny antics on stage – like playing rock, paper, scissors). The main focus of the night seemed to be impressive vocalists, and the band that captured my attention the most was Dayseeker. Vocalist Rory Rodriguez has a unique voice, switching from smooth, clean vocals to distorted, high shouting and screaming. Their songs are also catchy, like their newest song “Crooked Soul” and “Vultures.” Like Moths To Flames was much heavier, but also featured a variety of vocal styles from frontman Chris Roetter. This was when the crowdsurfers took over the pit, with The Masquerade’s security happily helping them while headbanging to songs like “New Plagues” and “Bury Your Pain.”

The Plot In You took over the stage with “RIGGED,” as frontman Landon Tewers delivered the best vocals of the night. His blend of soulful, smooth, clean vocals and screams have created a unique sound for the band, which ran through a setlist full of tracks from their newest album DISPOSE and older, much heavier favorites from their earliest albums. Despite the band taking a more pop-inspired approach on their latest album, The Plot In You are staying heavy on this tour, with Tewers even mentioning to the crowdsurfers “I wanna see some stinky shit!” The band also played Tewers personal favorite on the Happiness in Self Destruction album, “Take Me Away.” Newer songs included “NOT JUST BREATHING,” “THE ONE YOU LOVED,” “THE SOUND,” and “ONE LAST TIME.” The band finished with “DISPOSABLE FIX,” before returning to the stage with a two-song encore featuring “Miscarriage” from their 2011 album First Born and their biggest hit so far, “FEEL NOTHING,” where the crowd was nearly singing louder than Tewers. The FEEL NOTHING Tour is definitely one of my favorites to pass through Hell at The Masquerade, since the small stage really allows the crowd to connect with the musicians. The passion these fans brought to the show made it a memorable experience for everyone, and it seemed like the bands were enjoying the night just as much. Seeing these bands live in one of my favorite venues was definitely an experience to make me even more of a fan.

Setlist: RIGGED – NOT JUST BREATHING – My Old Ways – THE ONE YOU LOVED – Take Me Away – Crows – Fiction Religion – Time Changes Everything – THE SOUND – ONE LAST TIME – DISPOSABLE FIX – Miscarriage – FEEL NOTHING
