Seattle’s Indie folk band Fleet Foxes made a stop in Indy as part of their current tour in support of their latest release Crack-Up. The few remaining tickets appeared to have been purchased as the theatre was packed. Lead singer Robin Pecknold said the closest they got to Indy last tour was Iowa and they were happy to be here. The group’s smooth harmonies sounded amazing in the intimate venue. The crowd stayed seated the first few songs, but after that rose to their feet the remaining of show, many singing along. Following their smash hit “Mykonos” Robin played two songs by himself as the other members exited the stage. During his solo he asked if a particular woman was in the crowd because her date had something to ask her. The spotlights turned to the pit where a proposal took place. As they embraced she gave a thumbs up, letting the crowd know it was “yes.” Even Robin had a tear in his eye during the special moment. The band returned to the stage and completed their 20 song set which they ended with “Blue Ridge Mountains.”  They left only for a minute while the crowd screamed for more. They obliged returning for two more songs. They ended the evening with “Helplessness Blues.” What a show. The crowd was energetic, the band sounded great and their interaction made it seem more of personal experience. Fleet Foxes certainly exceeded my expectations and made for a wonderful night out.
