BLUES AT BRIDGETOWN 25th ANNIVERSARY – FIRST LINE-UP ANNOUNCEMENT

The iconic Western Australian musical experience that is Blues At Bridgetown marks its 25th year in 2017 from Friday-Sunday, November 10-12, with another stellar line-up that tips its hat to a quarter-century of good times and great music and looks forward to many more years ahead.

Kicking off the first line-up announcement for Blues At Bridgetown 2017 is the one-and-only Ian Moss, whose place in Australian rock’n’roll history as the guitarist of Cold Chisel is matched only by his excellent solo career. Moss’ guitar tones and soulful lead vocals are indelibly etched in the hearts and minds of a legion of fans internationally.

A Bridgetown favourite, Ash Grunwald returns armed with an acclaimed new single, Hammer. Taking cues from classic bluesmen including R.L. Burnside and John Lee Hooker and old prison work songs, Grunwald has added a twist of classic rock, neo soul and a nod to roots contemporaries including Butler, Rudd and Harper. Hammer is Grunwald’s most accomplished track to date, showing an artist emerging with a confidence and resolve of a leader rather than a follower.

The Bondi Cigars have consistently delivered the goods. Always one of the country’s hardest working outfits (they’re on the road more than off), the Cigars have kept their music tight, hard-driving and down-to-earth – the Australian bar band par excellence.

From the acoustic sublime, to rambunctious rock, and beyond, Z Star Delta (UK) have recently become a mesmerising presence in Europe and will no doubt echo that here on their first Australian tour. Zee’s hypnotic presence, bewitching raspy blue tones, big acoustic guitars and swampy grooves laced with Seb’s dark desert slide, psyche blues guitars and synth make for a beautifully dangerous concoction.

Dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond, Lachy Doley (NSW) is Australia’s most celebrated blues/soul/rock organ player. His group’s latest album, Lovelight, surpassed their previous releases by debuting at #40 on the ARIA National Chart. Along with their third tour of Europe and the UK plus a tour of Canada, 2017 is set to be a big year for the Lachy Doley Group.

Joining the aforementioned will be The Teskey Brothers, 19 Twenty, Little Georgia, Jan Preston, Luke Dux & Atomic Lunch Box, Andrew Winton, Moondog, Lightning Jack, Helen Townsend and Two Dollar Dog plus many more to be announced, playing at the beloved Blue Owl’s Nest, Festival Club and Geegelup venues.

Festival tickets are now on sale through bluesatbridgetown.com.au, including a great value Weekend Ticket & Camping package and Weekend Festival Tickets for The Early Bird buyers.
