Available as a very sexy lime green 7” vinyl single, Cornwall, UK teenaged foursome Hypophora (a figure of speech where someone asks a question and then answers it)’s Youth/Caught shows why the band have become such a draw in the South-West of England: driving rhythms, groove-laden alt-rock riffing, some great guitar textures from Karum Cooper, big hooks and Katie McConnell’s more-mature-than-expected vocals combine to make the band one to watch out for future developments.

Influences of post-hardcore and even a hint of grunge can be smelt, but despite their youth, Hypophora have already developed a keenly individual sound, with both these tracks sticking with the listener after just one spin – and my, oh my, that vinyl looks so pretty swirling around on the turntable!
