Open Chord is a small music store, café and single stage live venue with a capacity of around 250. When I heard Saliva was booked for an acoustic set, I decided to check it out. I have enjoyed Saliva from their start in early 2000. The crowd was no more than 100, and we had essentially a private concert. Bobby Amaru, Wayne Swinny and Brad Stewart took the small stage as the crowd gathered around. Bobby announced it was Wayne’s birthday and everyone took turned buying him shots throughout the night. The set was dedicated to Crown Royal, which kept flowing all night long. The setlist included songs from their 10 studio albums as well as covers of Areosmith’s “Dream On” and Johnny Cash’s “Hurt.” Active military servicers were honored on stage during “Click, Click, Boom.” The guys were engaging, friendly and interacting with fans all night. Even as long time fan, the show exceeded expectations. If you ever get the opportunity to see Saliva in such a venue, make the effort to get out and see them.
