Multi-platinum country artist Brad Paisley recorded this impressive live album and film at the West Virginia University in front of a 30,000-strong home-town crowd, and it captures him on stunning form.
Things get off to a honking start with stadium yelpers Crushin’ It and American Saturday Night, proving that when it’s all boiled down to brass tacks, modern country is just pop or rock with a twang-ful guitar and vocal.
An impressive run-through his best works follows – ballads Perfect Storm and This Is Country Music, the touching She’s Everything, and rousing Country Nation, Beat This Summer and Alcohol amongst the best. Another standout is a heartfelt rendition of John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Roads – adopted as a university anthem – which has the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand.
The DVD, shot with no less than 20 cameras, is equally impressive and adds a handful of extra tracks.
