What can be said about Prince that hasn’t been said about a million times… especially this year.  With the passing of this musical genius, we are treated to a career retrospective that covers the artists period with Warner Bros Records and the spin-off label NPG Records.  This 2 CD 40-track collection doesn’t offer much new in the way of material, but it does introduce one new track to Prince’s millions of fans, as well as several single edits released on CD for the first time.  No need to review these tracks that have been played millions of times by people around the globe, but I couldn’t less this stellar collection go by without referencing it, as well as the previously unreleased track and the single edits released on this collection for the first time on any CD package.  The previously unreleased “Moonbeam Levels” is a killer track that comes from the recording time frame that produced the 1999 release.  The groove of this track falls in line with that disc and would have made a great addition to the collection, without regard to its laid-back mellow vibe.  The way Prince’s vocal and the piano swirl at the intro sets the pace for this track, but the song gets a bit of punch when the chorus kicks in.  If this song is indicative of other songs from the era in the vault, we can only hope there is more material headed our way.  The single that were tracked and released for the first-time on CD for this collection are: “Little Red Corvette” – “Let’s Go Crazy” – “Let’s Work” – “Take Me With U” – “Alphabet Street” – “Girls & Boys” – “Glam Slam”.  As much as a loss to music the untimely passing of Prince was, luckily his music will live on forever…
