David Wills makes a strong case that “ultimately, had Frank Sinatra never sung one note of music… he would still stand alone as one of history’s most popular, talented and diverse actors,” in this photo collection of stills from Sinatra’s more than fifty movies spanning five decades.
With short essays from all three of Sinatra’s offspring, as well as a more involved essay by Wills on Sinatra’s movie career, the book is a fascinating look at an extraordinary – and extraordinarily under-rated – film career.
The real star of this book though isn’t the text, but the reams of lavish photos showing him in many of his diverse roles, evoking the characters and stories he so adeptly brought to light.
