Melodic rock is always music to my ears, regardless of the name and face behind it.  Lucky for me, I listen to most of it, because I may not have discovered the latest releases from singer Martina Edoff.  Title track “Unity” opens the disc with big riffs, pounding drums, and a heavy bottom end compliments of the bass.  Once Edoff opens her mouth, the vocals take over and drive the track.  The tempo is killer and pushes the disc in the right direction.  “Never Let You Down” is a heavier on keyboards and bottom end, but it fits the mood of the vocals and lyrics.  The chorus has a full sound, thanks to the wall of background vocals.  “Spirit Of Light” opens with a cool keyboard driven piece that makes way for Martina’s beautiful emotionally driven vocals.  The chorus unfolds and the song builds slowly while the vocal track shifts gears.  “I Am Mining” is a chunky song that seems is driven by the drum-led rhythm section.  The vocals are cool and take flight during the chorus, while the guitars carry on in the background.  A piano/keyboard interlude starts off “Moment Of Truth” and this power ballad takes flight through the verse and into the chorus.  Edoff’s vocals are electric on this song and showcase her different sounds and approaches to rock.  “This Love Is Crazy” is basically a stomping ground where Martina shows off her vocals while the guitars, keyboards, and rhythm section swirl around the vocals, creating a great track near the end of the disc.

“World Has Gone Mad” is full of chugging guitars and riffs that lift the vocals during the verse and chorus, while creating a bridge full of rock goodness. The vocals blend well with the keyboards and soar during the chorus.  “Come Alive” brings a more aggressive vocal and guitar to the table, but it works within the confines of this collection.  The chugging riff supports the darker lyric and heavier lead vocal that Edoff supplies, especially at the verse.  This is one of the better tracks on the disc.  “Love Keeps Turning Away” brings great guitar work to the table, along with a thumping bass line that helps drive the track.  The drums are heavy handed and it offsets the soaring vocals, which grow during the chorus.  “Sound Of Thunder” opens with a thunder of drums and vocals and shifts to a cool acoustic feeling tune as the guitars gently work their way into the verse.  The song morphs again as the chorus hits, creating a hybrid rocker/ballad.  Disc closer “Caught In The Middle” is a catchy track that benefits from chugging guitars, pounding drums, and an anthemic chorus that gives the song an edge.
