DAVE WARNER named a West Australian LIVING TREASURE
The Boy From Bicton and one-time leader of the Suburban Army, Dave Warner, has been included on a list of fifteen local talents names to be honoured as West Australian Living Treasures in a ceremony on 16 October.
Warner joins set designer Herbert Pinter, pianist Stephanie Coleman, visual artists Pippin Drysdale, Alan Griffiths, Miriam Stannage, Panjitta Mary McLean and Nalda Searles, author Joan London, puppeteer Noriko Nishimoto, actress Faith Clayton, author Robert Drewe, jazzman Lew Smith and dance-make Chrissie Parrott for the third intake into the exclusive club.
Warner, leader of the band Dave Warner’s From the Suburbs and celebrated author and screenwriter, told us what he thought of the award: “[I’m] very honoured Shane, especially as so much of my work is about W.A. it’s a nice recognition for all my fellow Perth musos – in particular those who have played with me, but other creators too.”
Dave Warner is joined by guitarists Tony Durant and Phil Bailey Downstairs at The Maj on 22-24 October for acoustic renditions of some of his most loved From The Suburbs songs, short stories and laughs.
