10 Years has stood the test time of time. Formed back in 1999, the hometown band from Knoxville has withstood lineup changes, politics of the music industry, and is still going strong. Not just a local favorite, 10 Years has gained international popularity and toured with the likes of Korn, Mudvayne, Disturbed, Deftones, and Shinedown to mention a few. The current tour is in support of the 7th studio release From Birth to Burial. Their new material is rawer and tries to capture the emotion of a live performance. The Family Ruin, Awaken the Empire, and Nonpoint got the evening rolling. Have to credit Nonpoint for a wild show. They were loud, engaging and had the crowd in a frenzy. By the time 10 Years took the stage the place was packed. With the lights out, Jesse Hasek scaled the speakers. As the spotlight revealed him with his fight club T-shirt and left eye blackened, he opened with “From Birth to Burial” off their latest release. The fans’ cheers and screams were some of the loudest I have heard at the International. They supported the hometown boys throughout the night, singing in unison to most every song. 10 Years played a nice mix old of old and new. Known for their live act, they did not disappoint. Hasek was out in the crowd on many songs and did some surfing as well. Bassist Ryan Collier was all over the stage, hair flying, as were guitarists Tater Johnson and Chad Huff. Kyle Mayer was on drums. The band thanked the home crowd for all the support over the years and reminisced about the transition from a local band to getting their break as a national act. They played “Wasteland” saying it was the launching pad for their career. They ended the evening with “Shoot It Out.” As usual it was an amazing show. It was great to have 10 Years back in town. Their new material and live show are a must see.
