Biters - Electric Blood cover

Atlanta’s Biters wear their influences on their sleeves – literally. One look at their promo photos shows the young foursome to be disciples of the Ramones/Johnny Thunders/Keith Richards church of sartorial elegance. Perhaps with a pinch of The Mighty Boosh’s Vince Noir thrown in for good measure!

Musically that’s merely a part of their ultra-catchy rock DNA. Cheap Trick come instantly to mind, as do KISS and AC/DC. Some ‘70s Slade stomp and Romantics attitude and arena-sized Who bluster. Can you see where we’re heading here? Every song is shoehorned full of riffs and melodies and fucking good times, distilled down to its essential essence and delivered with rock star swagger. I dare anyone to resist picking up the nearest tennis racket for some air guitar action through the likes of Restless Hearts, Loose From The Noose and Space Age Wasteland.

Song titles like The Kids Ain’t Alright, Low Lives In High Definition, 1975 and Heart Fulla Rock n Roll show they’ve done their research in the right places and are in thrall with the most classic of rock’s yesterdays.

With so many ingredients in their sonic soup, there’s a danger the end result might have been all over the place but there is a cohesion to Electric Blood that makes its diversity a joy to behold.

Electric Blood is irresistible fun and Biters may just be your new favourite band.
